Social proof is fundamental to growing your DTC store, so how do you get more product reviews in the first place?

Well, you're on the right email list and reading the right newsletter. 🤙

Below are some of the things I've personally implemented, plus examples from good friends in the industry.

I've put together a few step-by-step tips and even some templates to help you gather those precious reviews that can skyrocket your sales.

Ready? Let's dive in! 🚀

1. Make it easy-peasy for customers to leave reviews

First and foremost, simplify the review process for your customers. To do this, you can install user-friendly review apps like Yotpo... (just kidding – do NOT use Yotpo, please!). 🙅‍♂️

Use Loox, Judge.me, or Junip on your Shopify store. I've used all three, and they're fantastic at nudging customers to leave reviews without hassles. Plus, they can be easily customized to match your store's branding, and they integrate beautifully with just about every other app you might be using.

*Zero affiliation with any of those apps – just love 'em. If you do want referral links or intros, shout.

2. Send a friendly follow-up email

A few days after your customers have received their products, send them a charming, personalised email asking for a review.

Here's a little template to get you started:

Subject: We'd love to hear your thoughts, [Customer's Name]! 💭

Hey [Customer's Name],

We hope you're enjoying your new [Product Name]! Your opinion means the world to us, and we'd be thrilled if you could take a moment to share your thoughts on our website.

Just click the link below to leave a review:

Thanks for your support, and happy [Product usage]! 🎉

Best,

[Your Name / Your Store's Name]

A real-life example I stumbled upon this week in my inbox from Charlie at Wild Dose.

It's darn well done. 👇 (And has converted over 1,000+ people to leave reviews.)

3. Offer incentives (because who doesn't love freebies?)

Encourage customers to leave reviews by offering incentives like discounts, freebies, or exclusive content.

Just remember not to go overboard and keep it reasonable, or you might dent your profits a tad.

4. Share positive reviews on social media

Celebrate your customers' satisfaction by sharing positive reviews on your social media platforms. This not only shows your appreciation but also motivates others to leave reviews to get featured.

Legitimately talking just grabbing ugly screenshots, cropping them on your phone and sharing them to stories – being fancy is optional.

Ugly works too.

5. Make use of user-generated content (UGC)

Incorporate UGC into your marketing strategy. Encourage customers to share photos, videos, or stories of them using your products, and feature them on your website and social media. This creates a sense of community, and happy customers are likelier to leave glowing reviews.

Did I hear you say "Influencer Seeding" as you read this? (Wait, no? Read this right now, amigo.)

6. Respond to reviews (yes, even the negative ones)

Take the time to respond to every review, whether it's a compliment or a complaint. Show your appreciation for positive feedback and address any issues in a professional manner.

This demonstrates that you genuinely care about your customers and their experience with your products.

I promise people's bark is worse than their bite.

(Most of the time – don't sue me if they actually bite.)
 😬

7. Consider collaborating with influencers

Influencers can help you reach a wider audience and generate more reviews. Reach out to influencers who align with your brand and offer them your products in exchange for an honest review. Just remember to disclose the partnership to maintain transparency.

(Can you tell I'm big into Influencer Seeding yet? 👀)

And there you have it!

With these tips, you'll be swimming in product reviews before you know it. 😎

If you need more help or have questions, don't hesitate to reach out.

I'm here to support you every step of the way.

Good luck, and may the review gods be ever in your favour! 🌟
